The Sentek Drill & Drop (https://sentektechnologies.com/product-range/soil-data-probes/drill-and-drop/) measures volumetric water content in percent (%) and temperature every 4” down starting at a depth of 2”. The probe is available in 12”, 24”, 36”, and 48” lengths, and a special version also measures salinity. High volumetric water content corresponds to wet soil whereas low volumetric water content corresponds to dry soil. For installation, the manufacturer recommends using a custom tapered auger bit.
